The Quatela Center for Plastic Surgery is proud to announce that Dr. Ashley Amalfi has been named Board Vice President of Membership for the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), the world’s largest plastic surgery specialty organization. Dr. Amalfi will begin the role in October.
ASPS represents board-certified plastic surgeons across the United States and Canada, and sets the standards that guide safe, ethical practice in the specialty. Being selected for a national leadership position within the organization reflects a physician’s standing among peers and a demonstrated commitment to advancing the field.
“Being involved and connected through ASPS has enriched my career in ways I could never have imagined, and serving as Board Vice President of Membership is an incredible opportunity to give back to a specialty that has given me so much,” said Dr. Amalfi. “I believe deeply in the mission of ASPS, to advance quality patient care while upholding the highest standards of training, ethics, safety, and professional excellence. I am honored to represent my friends and colleagues across the country and around the world, to advocate for the value of board-certified plastic surgeons, and to help strengthen the connections that move our specialty forward. This role is truly a privilege, and I could not be more excited to serve.”
“Dr. Amalfi has always led with both skill and heart, and this role is a natural extension of the work she’s already been doing for her specialty for over a decade,” said Dr. Quatela, Founder and double board-certified facial plastic surgeon of the Quatela Center for Plastic Surgery. “When a physician takes on a role like this, it means she is helping set the standard for safe, ethical care across the entire specialty, and that is exactly the kind of leadership our patients deserve. We’re incredibly proud of the leadership that she brings to both our practice and to her work with ASPS.”
In this position, Dr. Amalfi will help lead ASPS’s membership efforts, working to strengthen connections across the specialty and advocate for the value of board-certified plastic surgeons nationally and internationally.
Dr. Amalfi joined the Quatela Center for Plastic Surgery in 2019 and is a board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon, renowned for her expertise in complex breast revision surgery as well as breast enhancement and body contouring procedures. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Plastic Surgery and a graduate of the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. Dr. Amalfi’s leadership within ASPS is not new: she is currently the Chair of the ASPS Young Plastic Surgeons Steering Committee. She has served as Chair and Secretary of the ASPS Assembly of Member Sections, as well as Chair of the Women Plastic Surgeons Committee and Social Media Committee.
Dr. Amalfi is the youngest surgeon ever named ASPS Board Vice President of Membership, and only the second woman to hold the position in at least the past 20 years. A Rochester native, she is currently the only physician in the Rochester area to hold a national leadership role within ASPS.
