Leadership and Compassion
Dr. Quatela completed a residency in Otolaryngology — Head & Neck Surgery at Northwestern University. He also completed two fellowships in facial plastic surgery, and is certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology — Head and Neck Surgery (ABO). Dr. Quatela has emerged as a leader in the field of aesthetic facial surgery. In addition to serving as past president of AAFPRS, Dr. Quatela serves annually as a board examiner for the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ABFPRS) certification examinations. He also helps train the next generation of surgeons through an annual fellowship, as well as multiple national and international lectures, and as a clinical associate professor at the University of Rochester in the otolaryngology department.
Dr. Quatela’s inspiration for establishing the HUGS Foundation was a personal belief that every human being has a fundamental right to the opportunity to grow and develop socially and intellectually without being ostracized or rejected due to physical abnormality. The foundation, in existence for 20 years, organizes multiple missions each year that send multi-specialty teams of experts to provide medical care to children and adolescents suffering from deformities or conditions that are remedied or alleviated through plastic surgery. To date, the HUGS Foundation has worked with over 1,000 volunteers to complete over 38 missions and perform 2300 surgeries.
