Plastic Surgery Costs & Payment Options

At the Quatela Center for Plastic Surgery in Rochester, we want to ensure our patients from Syracuse, Buffalo, other New York communities, and beyond are informed when they visit our plastic surgeons. On this page, we provide helpful information about plastic surgery costs, financing, and payment options.

Will Insurance Pay for My Plastic Surgery?

As a general rule, cosmetic plastic surgery is considered an “elective surgery,” something you choose to do that is not medically necessary. Therefore, cosmetic procedures are not usually covered by insurance unless there is a reconstructive or functional purpose (for example, nose surgery to fix trouble breathing).

What Goes Into the Cost of a Plastic Surgery Procedure

For most of our plastic surgery patients from Rochester, Buffalo, and Syracuse, NY, cost plays a large role in deciding to have cosmetic surgery, and it often becomes the main focus when researching. We’d like to suggest that you take a step back and first understand the many variables that go into determining the cost of a plastic surgery procedure, including:

  • An individual’s anatomy and desired results
  • The complexity of the procedure
  • The time the procedure will take
  • The surgeon’s expertise and training
  • Geographic location

Your Safety Is Our Priority

Our plastic surgeons review a variety of factors to ensure plastic surgery is a safe choice for you.

Plastic surgery is a completely personalized process for each patient. At the Quatela Center, we work with our patients to find treatment options that fit their individual budgets and lifestyles. If you have browsed our website and looked at different procedures, you will see that we do not publish pricing. Due to our individualized approach, we feel that a better understanding of cost is given when speaking to a potential patient over the phone.

Our Philosophy on Plastic Surgery Pricing

Here at the Quatela Center, we recommend that each prospective patient start by speaking to one of our highly-trained Patient Consultants over the phone. During this call, our Patient Consultants can get to know you a little, speak with you about your procedure of interest, and answer your initial questions. Our Patient Consultants will spend as much time as necessary to learn more about your desires for a facial or body procedure, as well as the logistics of when might be the best time for you to have surgery. During this initial call, they will explain the price range for your procedure(s) of interest.

If you’d like to move forward, the Patient Consultant will then schedule a consultation appointment for you to come into the office. At your consultation appointment with one of our physicians, he or she will determine if you are a candidate for surgery and what procedure, or combination of procedures, is right for you. At the end of your consultation, you will meet in person with the Patient Consultant who will generate a quote for the procedure options discussed.

What Will My Plastic Surgery Pricing Quote Include?

The costs outlined in the quote will include the following:

  • All office visits
  • All routine follow-ups
  • Surgeon’s fee
  • Products, i.e., implants (if being used)
  • Facility fee
  • Operating room costs
  • Anesthesia
  • Post-operative garments

What Is Not Included?

The items not covered in your surgical quote are the following, when applicable:

  • Prescriptions
  • Blood work (lab testing)
  • Mammograms
  • Breast tissue removed during surgery (will be sent to the lab for pathology)
  • Eye exams (if needed for blepharoplasty (eyelid) surgery)
  • Clearance appointments (if you have a medical condition or history that requires clearance by your primary care physician or specialist. These are generally covered by your insurance.)

For the most accurate quote, please call a Patient Consultant to discuss your procedure of interest and personal situation.

Fees for plastic surgery are paid in full prior to surgery, generally at your pre-operative appointment. The consultation fee is deducted from the procedure or service should you decide to move forward.

Plastic Surgery Is So Much More Than Price

Undergoing cosmetic surgery is a life-altering event. While the cost of surgery is an important factor to consider, it is also crucial to remember that you will live with the outcome of the surgery for the rest of your life. Your highest priority should be finding the best credentialed provider for your specific needs. Reputable plastic surgeons will never cut corners or compromise the quality of their care or your safety in order to reduce their pricing. When choosing a surgeon, remember to consider the following:

  • Choose a surgeon with an abundance of experience and documentation of previous surgeries. For a plastic surgery procedure, choose a plastic surgeon rather than a doctor from another specialty that performs plastic surgery.
  • Look for a surgeon that you are comfortable with and agree with how he or she plans to perform the surgical procedure.
  • It is important to ensure that the physician you choose understands the goals you have in mind and agrees that they are realistic and attainable.
  • Make sure your surgery will be performed in a properly credentialed operating room.
  • It is important to select a physician who is using high-quality products (such as implants) from a reputable manufacturer.

If you are interested in pursuing a plastic surgery procedure, our Patient Consultants and plastic surgeons would love to meet and talk with you to provide you with the most up-to-date information and the skill, compassion, experience, and care to achieve your goals. We exist to provide an uplifting experience that will change your life. Please call (585) 244-1000 to speak to a Patient Consultant for more information and to schedule your personal consultation appointment. Or, request a consultation using our online form.
