Breast Augmentation With Lift
Learn About Breast Augmentation Without a Lift
The breast consists of two elements: the skin envelope and the fill volume or “stuffing.” At the Quatela Center for Plastic Surgery, our plastic surgeons perform breast augmentation for women from Rochester, Syracuse, and Buffalo, NY, by increasing their breast size with implants. If there has been a great deal of weight loss or if the skin is very loose as a result of pregnancy and/or breastfeeding, our surgeons can reduce the skin envelope by performing a breast lift, also called mastopexy. In many cases, a breast lift alone provides the desired breast size and shape. If the results of a breast lift would leave the breasts too small for the patient’s desires, an augmentation can be done at the same time as the lift.

Should a Breast Lift and Augmentation Be Performed Together?
Many surgeons recommend doing the breast lift and breast augmentation at different times due to the difficulty in controlling all of the variables that are necessary when doing them together. Our plastic surgeons usually recommend doing the procedures at the same time as long as the patient understands that there is a slightly higher chance of needing a revision when the two procedures are done together. Dr. Koenig’s revision rate is about 5% for this combined operation.

When considering breast surgery, there are many benefits and risks to think about. What is the recovery for a breast lift with implant surgery?
The majority of patients after a breast augmentation with a lift are able to resume normal activity within a day or two and most can return to work after three to four days; although recovery varies with individual factors. Driving should be avoided for at least five to seven days.
When can I resume exercise?
You may resume lower body exercise after one week. You are not allowed to do upper body work for three weeks, but after three weeks you may resume exercise with no restrictions.
What can I do to improve scars from my breast augmentation with lift?
There are many over-the-counter creams and oils that are available for scar treatment with variable results. We now offer embrace® Advanced Scar Therapy as an effective way to enhance healing. Ultimately, the most important factors that aid in the best healing of your scars are to avoid UV exposure to the scar, and to massage and moisturize the scar.
When can I expect to see my final result?
You can expect to see your final result at about three months post-surgery, although changes may continue for up to one year.

The cost of a breast augmentation with lift varies, depending on your specific needs and goals.
