Mini Facelift

One of the most well-known cosmetic procedures is the facelift, also known as a rhytidectomy, which is traditionally a surgical procedure. A rejuvenating technique called the mini facelift is also available to our patients from Rochester, Syracuse, Buffalo, and throughout New York. Although this less extensive variation of the facelift procedure, often referred to as the weekend facelift, cannot obtain the same, dramatic changes as a full facelift procedure, the mini facelift can successfully target isolated problems of the lower face, particularly those seen in early aging.

Mini Facelift Consultation

Prior to deciding on a facelift procedure, a private consultation will be scheduled with one of our facial plastic surgeons. At this time, your surgeon will listen to all of your aesthetic desires and goals. Your surgeon will carefully review your medical history, current medications, and perform a full examination of the face. He or she will explain the surgical technique and you can ask to see before and after photos of their most recent mini facelift patients. After answering any questions, your surgeon will determine if the mini facelift is right for your individual situation. If it is, he or she will create a personalized surgical plan tailored to meet your unique needs.

The Ideal Mini Facelift Candidate

Anyone who is unhappy with early signs of aging may benefit from the mini facelift at the Quatela Center for Plastic Surgery. Minor sagging of the skin and lax tissue at the jawline can be corrected with a mini facelift. The ideal patient is a non-smoker, with good skin elasticity, and in overall good health. Both men and women of all skin types and ethnicities can take years off of their appearance with the procedure. As with any surgical procedure, candidates will need to fully understand the mini facelift process and be committed to their recovery.

The Mini Facelift Procedure

Our facial plastic surgeons perform the mini facelift procedure as an outpatient surgery at the Lindsay House Surgery Center. Using less extensive dissection beneath the skin, the mini facelift often results in less discomfort. The mini facelift procedure begins with the surgeon making several small incisions, placed in front of and behind the ear, along the hairline, or under the jawline. From here, small amounts of skin are removed and the remaining tissues tightened. Once the desired corrections have been made, the surgeon will add small sutures for proper healing. As with all surgical procedures performed at the Quatela Center, mini facelift patients are able to return home the same day as their procedure.

The Recovery from a Mini Facelift

Patients should expect the recovery from a mini facelift to take about a week; although experiences vary. Initial bruising and swelling typically resolve over the first 5 to 7 days. While patients may experience mild pain after a mini facelift, our surgeons can prescribe the necessary medications for patients to recover comfortably at home.

Most patients feel well enough and are comfortable with their appearance to return to work a week after their mini facelift. Normal, daily activities can be resumed in only a few days. Keep in mind, recovery varies with individual factors.

Mini Facelift Frequently Asked Questions

What is a mini facelift?

A mini facelift is an outpatient surgical procedure, designed to refresh and rejuvenate the appearance by smoothing and lifting the lower portion of tissue along the cheek and jawline.

Where do your surgeons perform mini facelift procedures?

Our surgeons perform all surgical procedures at the Lindsay House Surgery Center. This accredited surgical facility consists of the private operating suites of the Quatela Center for Plastic Surgery.

Does the mini facelift leave scars?

The incisions used for the mini facelift are the same as those used in the full facelift.  These are located in front of and behind the ear. Any scarring that does occur is well-hidden within the natural facial structures as our surgeons place them in natural skin creases so as to minimize their visibility.

How long do the results from a mini facelift to last?

The results from a mini facelift will be long lasting. Although the skin and tissues will continue to age and feel the effects of the environment and gravity, patients who take care of their skin can expect to appear less aged than their peers.

How much is a mini facelift?

The cost of a mini facelift varies, depending on your specific needs and goals. All prices quoted from the Quatela Center are all-inclusive and include pre and postoperative appointments, surgeon’s fees, surgery center fees, and anesthesia costs. For more information, see our page on Plastic Surgery Costs.
