Describe a typical day for you.

My typical day starts with coffee. Always. I try to workout every day either before or after work. On a weekday, I’m seeing patients or operating all day. On weekends, I’m spending time with my fiancé, going to church, or trying to do something outside: yard work, hunting, fishing.

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A doctor. I know this is lame, but it’s true. Although, I wanted to be a pediatrician because that’s the only type of doctor I knew of.

What are your favorite hobbies?

Fly fishing, skiing, white water kayaking, hunting to a lesser degree.

What’s the best way to start the day?

Sipping coffee and reading the news.

What is your favorite and least favorite food?

Favorite is steak, least favorite is peas.

What is your favorite thing about Rochester, NY?

I grew up in a small town in eastern Kentucky so to me, Rochester, while not huge, is a good-sized city with certainly every amenity I could ever want. I don’t know that I have a favorite, but a few of the things that make Rochester special to me are that the people are very friendly and the city is very easy to live in with respect to traffic and amenities. It has a small town feel that way. And it also has great access to fishing, skiing, and lake activities.

What is your biggest pet peeve?

I don’t have many pet peeves, but one thing that increasingly bothers me is tech distractions (texting or social media) when I’m trying to have a conversation with someone. I’m certainly guilty of it too, but it is something that I’m actively trying to combat for myself.

Do you have a favorite book or movie?

Favorite book is A Prayer for Owen Meany. Favorite movie is A River Runs Through It.

What is one thing you think that everyone should do at least once in their lives?

I think everyone should travel outside the US at least once. Not only does it give you a broader perspective to see and appreciate other cultures but also gives you a new appreciation for the beauty, both geographic and cultural, of the US.

What are you most looking forward to in the next 10 years?

I have a ton to look forward to in the next 10 years as I’m experiencing a ton of life changes all happening at once. I’ve moved to Rochester, started my new career at the Quatela Center; but I’m by far the most excited about getting married and starting a family.
